Cursor

  1. Open the SmartSuite install link for Cursor.
  2. Cursor opens and asks whether to install the SmartSuite MCP server. Click Install.
  3. Sign in to SmartSuite when prompted, and choose which Workspaces Cursor may use and whether it can make changes.

Connecting manually

  1. Open ~/.cursor/mcp.json to make SmartSuite available everywhere, or .cursor/mcp.json in a project to use it there only.

  2. Add the SmartSuite server:

    {
    "mcpServers": {
    "smartsuite": {
    "url": "https://app.smartsuite.com/v1/mcp"
    }
    }
    }
  3. SmartSuite appears in Cursor's list of MCP servers with a prompt to sign in. Select it, then sign in to SmartSuite and choose the connection's scope.

Cursor registers itself with SmartSuite automatically, so you don't need a client id or the auth block that some other servers require.

Changing or removing the connection

Turn the server off or remove it from Cursor's MCP settings, or delete its entry from mcp.json. To change which Workspaces it covers or whether it can make changes, sign out and connect again.

tip

Cursor connects from your own computer, so a Workspace with IP restrictions accepts it whenever you're on an allowed network.
