SmartSuite for AI assistants

The SmartSuite MCP Server connects AI assistants such as Claude, ChatGPT, Claude Code and Cursor directly to your Workspace. An assistant can answer questions about your data, update Records, and build Solutions, Tables, Views, Forms and Automations, all through conversation.

The assistant acts as the Member who connected it. It can only see and do what that Member's Role and Permissions allow, and Workspace Administrators decide whether assistants can read, write, or not reach a Workspace at all.

What you can do​

Ask questions of your data​

Search, filter and summarize Records across Tables without building a View first.

"Which Critical incidents are still New, and who owns each one?"

Update Records​

Create, update and delete Records, comment on them, and make the same change to many Records at once. Every change is recorded in the Record's activity history.

"Move every task in the Website Redesign project that's past due to next Friday, and comment on each one explaining why."

Build Solutions​

Create Solutions, Tables, Fields, Views, dashboards, Forms and document templates, and arrange the Record layout into tabs and sections. Ask for a dry run first to see exactly what would change.

"Add a Software Licenses Table to IT Asset Management with Vendor, Seat Count, Renewal Date and Annual Cost, plus a calendar View of upcoming renewals."

Draft and debug Automations​

Read existing Automations, build new ones, read their run history and retry runs that failed.

"Why did the onboarding Automation fail last night?"

Audit and document what you already have​

Review a Solution against SmartSuite's design standards, explain how Tables are linked, or summarize what a dashboard shows.

"Review the Incident Management Solution against SmartSuite's design standards and list what to fix first."

Every client connects to the same server URL and signs in to SmartSuite with OAuth. There are no API keys to create or rotate.

Stay in control​

  • Members choose which Workspaces a connection can reach and whether it can make changes.
  • Workspace Administrators set the ceiling in the AI Control Center: Disabled, Read-Only (the default) or Read & Write.
  • Permissions always apply. An assistant never sees or changes more than the Member who connected it.
  • Every change is attributed in activity history to both the Member and the assistant.
