Claude Code

Adding the server

  1. Run this command in your terminal:

    claude mcp add --transport http --scope user smartsuite https://app.smartsuite.com/v1/mcp

    --scope user makes SmartSuite available in every project. Use --scope project instead to save it in the project's .mcp.json and share it with everyone who works on the project.

  2. Start Claude Code:

    claude
  3. Inside Claude Code, open the MCP menu:

    /mcp
  4. Select smartsuite, then Authenticate. Sign in to SmartSuite in the browser window that opens, and choose which Workspaces Claude Code may use and whether it can make changes.

Configuring it by file

To add SmartSuite to a project by hand, put this in .mcp.json at the project root:

{
"mcpServers": {
"smartsuite": {
"type": "http",
"url": "https://app.smartsuite.com/v1/mcp"
}
}
}

Each person who opens the project authenticates with their own SmartSuite account from /mcp.

Changing or removing the connection

Run /mcp, select smartsuite, and clear its authentication to sign out. Authenticate again to choose a different scope. To remove the server:

claude mcp remove smartsuite
tip

Claude Code connects from your own computer, so a Workspace with IP restrictions accepts it whenever you're on an allowed network.
